Columbia County Planning and Building oversees county land use, zoning, comprehensive plan updates, and environmental uses. The department also provides building services for Columbia County, the City of Dayton, the Town of Waitsburg, the Town of Starbuck, and Garfield County.

Submit a Comprehensive Plan Docket item.  The deadline for the 2024 docket cycle has been extended to August 31, 2023. Submissions for the 2025 annual review may be submitted at any time.

Comprehensive Flood Hazard Management Plan

Consultants interested in submitting a Request for Qualifications as a consultant for the Columbia County Comprehensive Flood Hazard Management Plan update, funded by the Department of Ecology, may download a detailed submission packet HERE.

Projects Open to Public Comment

A public opinion public meeting for the proposed City of Dayton Wastewater Treatment Plant will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 17  at 5:30 p.m. at tSt. Joseph's Parish Hall, located at 112 S. 1st St. This will be an opportunity for the public to express opinions and suggestions with a stakeholder panel.
